Eamon Walsh GMITI am a Head of Department of Enterprise & Technology at GMIT. I hold a B. Sc. (Hons) in Applied Physics & Electronics and a Masters in Business Administration, both from NUI Galway. I have worked in IT Management roles with multinational companies in many countries, finally settling back to Galway a number of years back. I lecture on a number of different programmes and modules at GMIT, which currently includes Web Design, Cloud Technologies and Information Systems Management. I am also a PhD candidate with the Dept of Business Information Systems at NUI Galway and my research area of interest is Digital Identity Management using Blockchain for use in the storage, verification and distribution of Digital Academic Credentials. I presented on his research at an ECIS (European Conference on Information Systems) workshop entitled “Blockchain – Beyond the Horizon” held in Stockholm in June 2019.

I will be hosting another Blockchain workshop at ECIS 2020 in Marrakech with my colleagues Dr. Trevor Clohessy, Dr. Horst Treiblmaier from Modul University in Vienna and Theo Stratopolous from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada.
